READING CONCERT

Feline Tales

The latest whimsical and poignant novel by Mathias Malzieu, and sublime voice of the French rock band Dionysos returns to the spotlight.

“It’s a sad and beautiful world,” sings Tom Waits – and for once, Mathias Malzieu also. This is the story of a couple after a miscarriage. She nearly died and no longer wants children. He wants to continue trying. She is still young, he is aging. They get a cat. Then another.

A prolific writer and the voice of Dionysos, Mathias Malzieu returns to the spotlight with a unique project: a dreamlike concert-reading (or “a musical comedy to enjoy on site,” as he calls it) inspired by his latest novel and album of the same name. On stage, he blends music, storytelling, and shadow theater in a tender and fantastical fable told… from the cats’ perspective!

Mixing original songs with nods to Johnny Cash and Lady Gaga, The Man Who Listened to the Heartbeats of Cats is a pocket-sized theater full of felines and ghosts – a magnificent tale where gentleness stands up to grief.
