LULU VAN TRAPP + CHAUFAU + COCON JAVEL
Three worlds to illuminate winter
An electrifying evening where discovery rhymes with effervescence.
The Bernese trio Cocon Javel set the tone with their brand of electronic pop infused with sharp punk energy – both sweet and caustic – a sound they call Candy Roquefort. Sweet like candy, sharp like blue cheese. With lyrics in French and English and an explosive energy, this trio is sure to heat up the room. There will be heat, with CHAUFAU, a Lausanne-based group that shakes up expectations with their quirky post-prog sound blending dance-punk, electro sequences, krautrock, and new wave – in short, a unconventional soundscape deliberately beyond categorization. “It’s the end of the world but not the end of the night,” declares one of their songs. Well said, because Lulu Van Trapp will take up the torch with all the urgency that defines them. The Parisian quartet, a totemic band for a generation hungry for intensity, commands the stage with a feline and theatrical presence. Their performance both sweats and sways – a true love cry to contemporary chaos, their music provokes the collision of desire and disorder.
This first evening of Les Hivernales promises a three-part journey: exploration – disruption – exultation.
