Beneath its surface, the Cabaret of Urgent Matters is a space of resistance and joy, a festive refuge born from the need to come together as a community and a body in the face of everyday violences. Created by Chantal Mariam Neuhaus, Chloé Démétriadès (winner of Prix artistique de la Région de Nyon 2024), and their collaborators, this cabaret – concocted with love and rage – welcomes on stage artists, stories, and silences too often overlooked. Here, performers from circus, drag, burlesque, and performance art gather. The stage becomes a place to address urgent issues and foster mutual care and attention. The audience is invited to join a large communal table, where people celebrate, laugh, interact, and share a meal. Here, once again, celebrating and coming together is political. At the heart of a textile cocoon, a collective space of refuge is woven, where everyone can catch their breath.
